As many of you who test cars know, replicating the IMSA Continental Tire series has proven to be very difficult with limited success by a number of organizations. The IFCA has had some success with it in the past in FM4 and will be trying to do it again. With T10 allowing access to almost all of the cars now, we can probably do the series some justice and have some real fun.
We will attempt to use the same cars as found in the real series and limit them to the same hp as the real cars. We will also employ a revised tire BoP that will be more competitive than what we have done in Super Spec racing. Initially, we will bring the GS class up to speed with some sprint races of less than 17laps, then after everyone feels like they have a handle on the cars we will switch to longer races and shared driving stints with 2 man teams. Then, we will introduce either the new TCR, or ST class. Eventually, we would like to see all 3 classes on the track at the same time.
The unique feature of this IFCA format, and one that is rarely done any where, is no microphone communications with your competitors. You will only be allowed to chat with your teammate during the race. This single feature brings about an entirely different atmosphere of realism to the experience you seldom get to have in league racing. Instead of yelling where you are at or while making a pass, you'll have to be much more crafty and creative as you sneak up on someone to pass. It takes more skill and patience and amps up the thrill by a factor of 10.
Sometime in early August we will begin our practice races. Anyone available for some pre-testing should message me.

GS Car List

Our GS car list is complete but not completely tested yet. There will be a total of at least 23 GS cars to pick from.
We included every make and model from recent history and a few that were not raced in the real series too. We did it this way because we still don't have all the exact cars. So, for example, Forza doesn't offer a late model Pontiac GTO, so we are using the Pontiac G8 in its place. We added the SRT8 392 and Hellcat Challengers just because there are Mustangs and Camaros and wanted to round the field out with some MOPAR's. Other than this, the cars are well represented with more than one model to pick from in most cases.
There will be a new tire compound/width BoP that is a fine-tuned version of what we use in Super Spec. In other words there will be less of a gap between drivers and their tire BoP. This is partly due to the cars themselves in that some have limited widths and some need more grip than others to be equal.
We will have several practice events before we go endurance racing so that everyone can get a feel for which cars they prefer.

The specific builds are not yet finalized. All have been tested and brought into equality by phase 1 testing. Phase 2 testing involves actual race condition testing on Saturday nights. We need as many drivers as possible for phase 2. All of our regular drivers need to invite 1 new guy each Saturday.
Our training test facility is Daytona infield. Daytona offers everyone a familiar variety of cornering from fast to slow, as well as long straights for maximum speeds giving us a good gauge of each cars performance envelope. Bear in mind just as in real life, equality here or at any track does not mean equality at an alternative track. Most cars will be equal at Daytona, but slightly unequal at other tracks, and yet slightly more than equal at others. It will be up to the teams to decide which car best suits their track preferences. Just as with the real series everyone will have to compromise at some tracks and realize their car is not always going to be the best car at a given track. Cars that do well at Daytona, may do less well at Lime Rock for example.

After checking the World Rankings, I see that I am at 1901. 
So I guess that I have to switch to "Sport" Tires this week.
My lap times are now in the 1:51's - 1:52's
I ran a 1:49.9 with Race Tires in the Merc.

The Testing Series is much more fun, because we are helping which cars need upgrading or degrading plus the racers that are participating will know what cars they want to race.

Having trouble finding a partner that can do the 2 hours, fingers crossed. I didn't see in the rules of the series, how many mandatory pit stops per race?

Saturday's practice race is only 1 hour with 2 pit stops each driver.

I also need a teammate and will try to make all races. There is a small chance I might miss some races though due to my coaching duties for my daughter on Saturday. The league has not finalized the schedule for the season but I will inform you as soon as I know I will miss a race so you can grab a teammate to compete. If that's OK with you, let's do it.

Smart man, big time team right there! Yes, a team can switch out members at will at any time for substitutes.

Speedy, that sounds like a brilliant plan! Catch you this Saturday! Also, I feel as if most guys are going to be running the Hellcat this weekend, so I'm going to switch it up and run the Mclaren. I'll have a tune posted & shared by the name of IFCA whenever I get around to practicing
