I will be adjusting some GS cars and adding a few new ones for season 2. We will be reviewing Audi, Porsche, and Ford. Stay tuned.

That's right, the Italians are coming! With the increased attention and popularity of the series, makes such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Alpha Romeo are looking to contend for the Championship in season II on Jan 5th 2019.  

Every current car will be reviewed and BoP updated if necessary.  With season 1 coming to a close we have a much better idea what lap times should be expected and we will be able to adjust all the cars accordingly. These are very small adjustments in most cases.  Should have the new GS line-up and builds available within the next week or so.  So keep checking back.

I was just informed that Acura intends to contend in season ll as well.

I think this is welcome news and will open up the series. As we have already seen, we have multiple people still in the hunt for the championship and all driving different makes. I think it would be cool to hold a random drawing for the teams to select their car or teams choose in reverse championship finish position followed by any new drivers to the series. Also no two teams can select the same car.

Just some thoughts to spice it up for the upcoming season.

Good creative thinking.  However, I know a lot of people who only want to run "their make" so I wouldn't want to lose them because they couldn't drive the car they wanted to.  Too often we all have ended up in cars that were just "okay" or even cars we didn't care for that much in various series.  And this really takes the wind out of the fun sails.  So, part of the point of this series is to give everyone as much opportunity to run the cars they would really like to run or try some cars that are rarely seen in league racing.  Nothing too goofy, but cars that are roughly based in the real Continental series to a degree.  Even so, I have had several people almost upset that the cars chosen are not the exact cars from the real series.  Doing so would have limited the car selection by a lot.  And since FM7 doesn't have the exact cars for the most part, no sense in limiting the number of cars that could fit into the group.  That way everyone should be happy they have a make they like.

The biggest issue is really, parity, and whether the cars are equal in performance.  It sucks to get into your favorite ride at the start of a season only to discover it just isn't up to the same performance level as the rest of the field.  A real let down and fun sucker.  

Can't tell you how many times I've gotten excited about driving "my car" at TORA or somewhere, only to be told yeah, that car is sort of a dog GTDon, you should have picked one of the fast cars the fast guys are driving.  I mean really?  Why?  Why are there slow cars in the field?  Doesn't make sense to me.  It's just lazy formula testing is all.  You can't just go by the numbers, you have to physically test each car to really know what the deal is.  Then you have to test it with a variety of build combinations, and then tuning variations, and on different tracks.  Then, you'll have a good idea what the car can do.

So, I have tried to dial all the cars in as best as I can with dozens of hours of testing, retesting, and fine-tuning testing so that on any given track, on average, each car can compete fairly over the course of a season.  Just as in real life some cars will be faster at some tracks and slower at others.  The goal is to minimize this and test for equality on the neutral tracks.  No easy task. But so far the cars have done well, and will be even closer when season II starts in January.

Too true and all great points Don. You illustrated exactly why your format works as well as it does, the monkey wrench will always be the driver behind the wheel in what car that will make it more interesting. Thanks for all the hard work and testing you have completed to make the cars all competitive, I know it takes a ton of your time.

Adding to this point, this just in! Dodge has just shown up at Daytona for testing and is apparently interested in running a factory supported Viper.  In fact they brought 2 Vipers. a 2013 and a 1999 for comparison.  The 1999 car, as you may know, has won at just about every major race track in the world including Nurburgring, Spa, LeMans, Sebring, and Daytona. Rumor has it that they will run both, with the 1999 model being driven by a factory driver turned privateer and the 2013 model with their top aces Randy Pobst and Chris Winkler.

Dodge was impressed with the performance of the Hellcat in the series and when they saw some of the big name manufacturers throw their hat in, well, it was time to jump on board.  There are 25 new cars in the series for a total of 50 in the heated GS class alone.

Okay the new GS cars are posted. There are some corrections needed with the season 1 cars. I've improved a few cars and still need to edit some of the build sheets. Cars perhaps thought to be less than competitive have been breathed on a little more.

All known errors have been corrected on the build sheets.  Every car is up to date and has been re-tested.  Not every car received a change in build but most have had some minor changes, so double check the current build sheet that way you are not driving an out of date car.  

Pay particular attention to the Camaros and Mustangs.  The Audi R8 is fixed now as is the 2019 911. The 2016 Aston Martin Vantage GT12 was replaced with the 2017 Aston Martin DB11, the former proved to be a poor fit for the field with its extra downforce capability. You'll find the DB11 to be more enjoyable to drive anyway.

Overall I mostly enhanced the performance capabilities of just about every car while at the same time narrowing the BoP tire gap between driver rating builds.  This means the cars are closer in performance now than in season 2. 

I will produce a stat guide sheet for the GS cars.

I know right? We are staying in GS but will switch out of the Hellcat.

FYI, I found a couple of minor mistakes on some build sheets, and have totally rebuilt the Ford GT350.  Not sure what I was doing the day I tested it but it slipped under the radar with way too much hp.  So if you were planning on the GT350, better have another look she is no longer overpowered.  Still very fast and a 'do it all' kind of car that won't let you down no matter the track.

Did a slight rebuild and upgrade on the 2016 911 Porsche which should give the Porsche fans something to cheer about.

Okay, if anyone has a problem building a car, which can happen, I have every GS car build saved and shared.  The file name is "1900" for every one of them, and they are the only shared tune/builds I have.  In other words, you won't have to go through and search a bunch of tunes for the correct one because there is only one per car. I think there is one car that also has an 1800 level build shared but that's it.  Should be easy to get.  All of them are Daytona type tunes too.  Have fun!

Oh, and I will do the same for the ST class soon.

FYI - the Jag build is off. It says to add the race pistons but when you do that PI increases to 759, weight is 2962 and HP is 575 for 1900 build.

Got it, thanks!  It was a typo. 

I shared all the 1900 builds which is like a master list of the correct build in case something doesn't add up.  

For those that don't know how, buy a clean stock car, upload the 1900 tune, then discard the tune and buy back the indicated parts so you can tune the car the way you want or switch it to the appropriate build level.
