The real AAR
I was contacted by the real AAR folks last night asking me to take the old club site we had down because of trademark issues. I explained that the site was no longer in use, and apologized for the problem it created. I explained to Kathy Weida, Vice President of All American Racers, Inc. that we (our club) is a sim-racing tribute to the real AAR, and that we are great fans of Mr. Dan Gurney, and his son Alex of course, and that we meant no harm or disrespect. She graciously accepted my apology and that there would be no further action taken against me in this regard.
Upon her last note to me she pointed out the Official AAR websites that she would like us all to see. And I have to say they are stunning works of web design. Very professional, and exactly what they needed for such a legendary driver, and his highly competitive son. Please check them out:

This is quite an awesome prank. He also did a similar act on "I Get That A Lot."

I'm back!
It's been a couple weeks since I had to go out of town on business, and it's remarkable how a lot of things sort of fell apart, especially in lobby 1 of the Continental series. Just goes to show that without strong leadership and dedicated organizers, chances of success go out the window. Ironically this was the basic theme of my business retreat over the past two weeks.
But I'm back now, and will be here to help wrap things up before we begin to make preperations for the Amatuer Forza League World Championship in July. Thanks to all those (especially Nelly) for pitching in and doing your best while I was gone.

Re: GTDon's Blog III
Okay, I will be out of town this week, hoping to return on Thursday. So don't worry all ratings and points will get updated, eventually.

Re: GTDon's Blog III
Okay, I'm back from Seattle. 3.5 hours to get there, 27hrs to get back. The difference between flying at 500mph in a 737, and driving an average speed of 61mph in a 2001 Corvette.
We left on Wed @ 10:00am CST and arrived home today at 1:00pm CST. Fuel mileage was a very good 26mpg for the Chevy LS1 V8, in fact better than the last time I made this run back in 1992 in a Grand Am GT with a V6. But we ran the V6 a lot harder too with an average speed of 65mph and total time some 30 minutes less at 26:30. Fastest top speed during the drive was 125mph for a few seconds, but mostly we kept it on cruise control and 81mph in the mostly 75mph speed limit. We did stop for a 2hr nap at 3:00am in Billings Montana just to be safe, as we began to feel too sleepy to continue.
I'm pretty tired now even though there were 2 of us sharing the 1,671 mile trek back, but I will attempt to get ratings and points updated soon.

Re: GTDon's Blog III
Geesh, Don. That sounds like a brutal trip. I've been on long road trips before and fought off the sleep bug, but not trips that long. Get your rest man, we're not going anywhere.

Re: GTDon's Blog III
Okay, my modem troubles have been (apparently) solved with the purchase of a new modem. I seem to be able to stay connected continuously no thanks to CenturyLink or their poor Zyxel PK5000 piece of crap. Expect to see a bit more of me in practice rooms now.
