IFCA Trans-Am Relay Challenge Season 6 Oct 12th RX7-06-deb

It is with great pleasure we bring you yet another new IFCA season of Trans-Am relay racing!  Season 6 switches to the 80s and 90s Trans-Am cars on Oct 12th.

Unlike the older original T/A cars from the 60's and 70's these newer cars will include racing transmissions.  Their performance will be upper A-Class right in between the S-Class Modern T/A cars and the mid-A-Class original cars.

This time period was a transitional period when new things were being tried and aerodynamics started to be a real consideration.  Turbochargers, body kits, big wings and ground effects, were all the rage back then.  Everything from V8s to turbo rotaries to multi-valve 6cyl and twin turbos was available.  This made for a strange set of rules and even stranger group of cars that would not normally compete against each other. As a result, we have the most eclectic group of 10 cars we've ever had to pick from.

The only change is a unanimous vote to push the start time on Saturday's back to 7pm EST instead of 6pm EST giving a lot of people a bit more time to get ready to race, especially those on the West coast.

All 10 x 2 car builds will be available here:

The qualifying track and first track of the season will be VIR South.  You get two 4lap chances to qualify with your teammate.  As before you can use any of the 10 cars to qualify with, doesn't have to be the same car your teammate uses, and doesn't have to be the car you use for the season.  Once the season begins you and your teammate have to stay in that car for the first 3 races.  Then if you want you can change to a different car for the remaining 4 races.

Last track of the season as always is the double bonus round when both team members race together the entire race without driver exchanges.

Official qualifying begins Friday Sept 27th.

1.1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1
2.1994 Ferrari F355 Berlinette
3.1994 Nissan Fairlady Z Twin Turbo
4.1997 BMW M3
