Season 4 Preview RWYB
Season 4 Preview RWYB
Season 4 will be a going back to our roots type effort with a kind of "RWYB" Spec format.
In the distant past the IFCA began with Spec Racing, and so it is we are here again. This time we want to try to open things up a bit with car selection and simplify the format as much as possible.
We will be doing away (temporarily) with the skill ratings this season. There will be no driver or car handicaps.
Rather than force everyone into the same exact car (which some drivers might not like) as is traditionally done for most spec racing, we intend to offer a range of cars via selected manufacturers. It will be up to you to decide which car/cars work best for you.
There will be no build sheets. Your only build limits are widest race tires, and stock engine hp. That's it!
You will be offered 2 manufacturers to pick from in a single class. For example, it might be Mercedes vs Audi in C-Class. All the Mercede's and all the Audi's that can fit into C-Class with widest race tires and stock engine hp would be legal to race. And before anyone asks, no, you may not use larger diameter rims or restrictor plates.
So, no more trying to find the build page or trying to follow the build sheet list of parts. Build it your way.
No more objections to our testers getting an unfair advantage for testing. Because everyone becomes a tester.
There will be no team mandate either. Teams will exist, and they will have a seperate championship points table, but you do not have to be on a team to race. Drivers on teams are still racing for the individual championship too.
The number of pit stops will be up to you as well, during the 60 min race. There will be a predetermined tire wear setting which will allow the strategic use of different tire compounds.
These will be standing start races. All bonuses will remain in place for fastest practice laps, pole, fastest race lap, clean driver. And the final race will be double points.
That's all we have for now. It's simple, uncomplicated, and gives everyone the opportunity to pick what they want, build it the way they want, tune it how they like, and, Run What They Brung!
===========
In addition, it has been decided that this will be a 6 week competition divided into two halves. The first 3 races will be in lower class cars. (E-D-C-or B-Class) The second 3 races will be in the higher class cars. (A-S-R-or P-Class). For example, the first 3 races could be Ford vs Chevy in D-Class, and the last 3 races could be Ferrari vs Aston Martin in R-Class. In this way everyone is served. Drivers who excel at lower class cars get their chance to shine, and drivers who excel at the higher classes get their due, making it fair for all in the end.
All of the tracks, dates, manufacturers, and classes, will be announced before the season begins. Everyone will have the same amount of time to select, build, and test their cars.
Our 8pm CST Wed night Spec Kings will convert back to a pre-race featurette race for the new format but at only half the distance. It's a chance to see what people are racing while racing the same race that officially takes place the following Saturday at 6pm CST.
The name for this new format will be called, "IFCA Super Spec", expect a schedule announcement at the end of the month.
