"This is really a tricky situation for Xbox One players as developers are not sharing the exact reason why Project Cars lack "multiplayer lobbies" option, however one thing is pretty sure, if fans want to know the reason they should direct their questions towards Microsoft."

Okay, this isn't the review, but I wanted to give everyone some impressions early on.  I know how it sucks to read through a bunch of reviews from people who aren't like us.  You know, people who don't really get this simulation stuff.

The first impressions are very good.  I barely have any time with the game, and I'm using a hand controller which really sucks for me as a wheel guy.

The in-race graphics are as good or better than FM5, and the tracks look richer, more vibrant, and have a somewhat larger feel, as in longer, or bigger, and elevation change is very noticeable.  Something about the way the cars get lose over hills and the perspective gives you a much better sense for elevation changes unlike any other sim Ive used before.

Physics are very good and have a balanced feel right off the bat, unlike iRacing cars which are heavy over steer cars in the extreme.  Level of difficulty is somewhere between FM5 and iRacing.

Replays seem to really shine for the cars best look, while in the garage the cars look, well, cartoonish.  Sort of the opposite of FM5.  FM5 cars look great in the showroom, and less so on the track.

No painting, but I'm betting there will be a third party for that just like with iRacing.

Sound quality as good or better than anyone.

Car selection is good but not that many, whereas track selection is huge.

The cars have a satisfying feel to them, but the brakes seem to have no bite at all.  I'm thinking maybe they are closer to the real car, and I'm too used to unreal stopping.  But it does force you to brake very early, like you'd have to do if you were in a real car, depending on the car.

So far so good.  This has lots of potential.  I'll try to get some more time in with it and put out a fuller review later.

Elevation is so important and is the most over looked quality in graphics..Borno was my least favorite track in Moto gp 02 but in Moto gp 08 it became my favorite because of elevation that was depicted and now i have an Asseto Corsa version i like even more. Its good to here that you like it. so many people are trashing it..you do have the X1 version, right.

Yeah, elevation has always been really hard to simulate it seems.  I'm running the Xbox One version.

There are two camps out there on both sides of PCARS.  The iRacing guys, who really don't care for it, and the Forza/Horizon/arcade guys who can't understand it. lol

But I have to say I haven't read any really bad things, just a few bugs here and there.

As far as I can tell there are no multiplayer lobby issues.  I'm not sure, but the only possible problem is that you can't make them totally private.  You can set the room up, but I think it allows anyone to come in.  But Ill have to check on this more.

A few more first impressions; yes there are some bugs that need to be addressed like the sudden right turn bug for no reason.  The cars will on occasion just veer to the right.  It's said that this is because the controllers haven't been optimized and a fix is coming.  Also, leaderboard ghosts are not available during time trials even though they obviously intended to be, it just doesn't work yet.

More tuning is being done with the hand controllers than the car's setup right now, with limited success.

Without a doubt this is a wheel type simulation if you want the most out of it.

The interface is fine, maybe a little jumbly, and the car load/selection process is slightly delayed and not snappy, making you think its an older program.  And with the low res depiction of the cars in the garage as compared to the track, makes it all the more throw-back feeling.  But, I think this is better to have the cars jump from low res to hi res, rather than the other way as in FM5.

more to come...

That would be my intent yes.  iRacing is more serious than anything.  Its fun comes from the competition which is well established and at a very high level.  The tracks are very very accurate, but do lack the sense of elevation still.  The cars are great, and a little strange in terms of variety.  Graphics are very good.  And the physics are nearly too good to be any fun.  It's a hardcore racing sim but has a lot of drawbacks too.  It looks like Project CARS can fill the gaps left by iRacing but on a console.  XBL is far superior.  The car selection in PCARS is a little strange too, like iRacings.  Both sims have an enormous track count, but iRacing has the better group.  I can use 1 wheel for both sims too.

Without a doubt FM6 will regain the composure that was lost in FM5 in my opinion.  Because of PCARS, T10 will have to admit they have missed something important.  They (Dan Greenawalt) knows Forza has gone down a dead end street, and will have to make a course correction if they wish to compete on the same level that the fans are demanding.  Instead of avoiding racing elements, they will have to address them.  Instead of dumb-ing down and simplifying their game, they are going to have to enhance the racing experience with racing attitude and respect for their fans.  If they don't, they will remain a boring car show game that fewer and fewer people will invest time in.  The days of pointless pretty cars has ended.  Everyone has pretty cars and tracks now, it's what you do with them that counts.

Do the tires wear faster if you push them? Do brakes fade when hot? Do the engines have a power curve/will the engine bog down at low RPMs? Do cold tires handle worse? Can you jump the start and get a penalty?

Good questions all dc.  Tires do wear and have different compounds and will heat up.  Brakes I'm not so sure about just yet because I don't have a wheel yet and the controller has a poor feel to it.  The engines seem to have less of a bogging problem as compared to FM5, and can overwhelm tire adhesion even at low rpm's.  It's got this cool feel that is very linear to a point, allowing you to power slide a car if you have the right slip angle.  Cold tires are definitely noticeable and lacking grip so watch it!  You can jump the start legally and illegally.  There is a technique for a quick jump, but if you don't like that people can do this, you can set it to a rolling start too.

Have you done the FOV calculator? If not, you're not getting the full effect. If your FOV is pulled out too far then you don't see the track to scale, everything gets flattened out, both elevation and corners. Even on a single screen you can compromise, but will have to get very close to the screen physically to have a usable FOV.

No, you're right that does help. But with PCARS it really shows.
