Spec Racing Combine - Race 1 & 2 - Kayalami GP

Due to the new Season 2 format we will not be doing a traditional 4 lap race for the next weeks track after the main event on Saturdays.  Instead, we will do a quick little featurette half race with the Wed night Spec Miata, of just 10laps, showcasing the Wed night Spec Miata Maniacs series. In this way, those of you who can't race Wed nights can at least get a taste of our Spec Miata racing.

Great race everyone!  I know, it's not quite the same car spacing as when we had the car handicaps, but objectively, everyone was running against their usual opponents nonetheless.  It's just that the spacing between certain skill levels is greater now.  But if you look at the points (below) you might be pleasantly surprised to see that you are still very close or better off than you would have been before, if only because of the close points table.  So in a sense, not a lot has changed.  Everyone is still running against their usual rivals, points are closer together, and each group of drivers has a larger separation from other groups they aren't really racing against anyway.

Team Penske's GTDon, holder of the IFCA #1 plate and defending champion, has picked up where he left off from last season.  He crossed the finish line first but his teammate RS Jonathon took the checker for the win.  How? GTDon had 0.50sec penalty to Jonathon's zero.  All he (Jonathon) needed to do was stay within the .50sec window to win, and did.  GTDon captured the fastest race lap bonus (1:52.050) helping him to come away with the season points lead however.

3rd on the podium was ChevyPower, after ZAR Eries made a miscalculation on his fuel load forcing him into the pits. (In truth, Forza offered up a slightly incorrect fuel load.)

On the team side, defending champions Team Penske performing like they are the Redbull F1 team collected the most season team points to pick up where they left off from last season too. CR1 netted 2nd place battling with the up and coming Titans of Touge.

Very cool, except for the video resolution. lol Good to see you guys racing hard but also giving room to race.  That's what we want to see my friends!

Really good aggressive racing once again!  Yes, there were a couple difficult moments of contact, like at the start and into turn 1 and a few laps later in turn 6, but all were deemed racing incidences at most for a couple of reasons. 1.) No one directly lost a position except maybe GTDon. 2.) No one filed a protest. and 3.) The contact did not alter the eventual finishing order.

I do want to caution everyone from here on out that we will be reviewing replays once again.  That's right!  Now that we have limited replays we can review livery compliance and points of contact. You, as a competitor, can also now file a protest provided it appears on a replay or you have video evidence. 

Season points remain tighter than ever after a complete round of 2 races.  The top 5 are only separated by 3 points which is actually quite rare.  Still in first by only a quarter point is defending champion GTDon who finished in 2nd place for the second time.  2nd in points and the overall winner and former champion was RIOT ChevyPower.  3rd on the box was RS Jonathon who is now 3rd in points.  

Fastest race lap went to RS Quantum X with a 1:51.972.  Quantum was the odds on favorite to win with the fastest practice lap and qualifying lap, but started with the wrong tires and fuel load.  Still, he made the most of it finishing a very respectable 4th!

In the team championship points race, Team Penske continues to lead with CR1 and Titans of Tougé battling it out for 2nd.

There is a club site for the IFCA on Xbox Live where we post pics and vids.  Problem is, finding it.  It used to be simple to get to, but as per T10/Microsoft, if it ain't broke, fix it!

I posted some pics of the last race because we have limited repays now.  But we do not have full control e.g., the pause button does not work. (sigh)

Okay, so here's how to get to the club thing, (I don't know what else to call it) go to your "People" tab, scroll down to the "Friends & Community Updates" then click on the "Clubs on Xbox" box, and then you might see the "IFCA TransAm Racing" box, but if you don't, click on the "Find a club" and type in "IFCA TransAm Racing". Then, if you are not a member, request membership.

I'm going to take this as a bit of fun sarcasm from from someone who didn't even make the race. FYI, For many seasons and indeed years now, I have always posted a race review in relatively short order regardless of who won. This is a well known fact that can be traced.  It is the entirety of this record that you should judge me by, and not just this 1 race.

But, to answer the rhetorical question, Eries is on a business trip in a different country at the moment, and will no doubt get around to posting the points results soon, at which time I can then post a proper race review.  It is the official points that matters the most in my mind anyway, and not the review.  The review is the just for fun part I do to give IFCA events the deserved continuity.  You know, the feeling that there is a story to be told and a kind Press that follows it.
