Wednesday Night Trans-Am Support Races
Here's how it works. There will be no seasonal or series points at stake. Each race will be a one-off race for that week with a length of about 45min.
Each race will, however, be rated. Though there will be no drivers points there will be car points.
Our purpose for having a support race is to refine the balance of performance of each car for our main event the Trans-Am Relay Challenge on Saturdays. So, we are more interested in how the cars perform than how the drivers do. To this aim, drivers will not be allowed to drive the same car twice per 7 race season. Drivers will comply with driving their designated build based on IFCA rating. Slower drivers rated under 1950.000 will drive the faster Factory build, faster drivers rated over 1950.000 will drive the slower Privateer build. In so doing, drivers will get a chance to sample most of the cars and see what kind of performance they have before making the leap into the big show on Saturdays with a teammate. This will also allow new drivers to understand the format and find out if they like the cars before committing to our main event as well.
The Wednesday night support race will mirror our regular-season series on Saturdays. They will be at the same track utilizing the same cars and have the same basic format, 4 lap qualy, with 2 discretionary pitstops and 1 mandatory pit and no microphones in a 40min race. There will be no bonus points for fastest lap, pole, etc unless you happen to be in the same car for the main event on Saturday.
1.) The primary purpose of our support race is to help balance the cars for future seasons. There are no season points or driver points. Each race is a one-off separate event that mirrors our main event on Saturdays. There will be 'Car Dominance Points' as a way to measure which cars need some adjustment for future seasons. This is a driver rated event.
2.) The secondary purpose for our support race is to allow drivers who can't race in the main event to enjoy driving our Trans-Am cars in a race. Many drivers have longed to be able to do this as a single driver. Some drivers have a schedule conflict with Saturday's race while others don't have a partner, so this is a fun opportunity for them to get some track time with some clean racers.
3.) The third purpose for our support race is to help new drivers understand our format and way of racing here at the IFCA. We have zero-tolerance for contact of any kind. We have the cleanest drivers in all of Forza as a result of the way we race and we wish to keep it that way. For us, a clean pass is worth more than a win. So please be careful and respectful to your fellow competitors.
4.) Our fourth and final reason for the support race is to socialize. We want people to get to know each other, especially those still looking for a partner to race in the main event on Saturdays.
Have fun this season, and good luck to you all!

The end of the season results showed the somewhat obvious. Based on a "super average" the Ford Mustang was #1, the Ferrari 360 #2 and the Skyline a surprising #3. What our data shows is not just car performance but also driver preferences.
In the end we can reliably use these results to increase the performance of the slower less dominant cars and bring them much closer to the dominant cars for the next time we use the 2k class of Trans-Am cars. Doing it this way takes time but yields excellent BoP results for future seasons. Eventually, very little testing will be needed because the cars will be so close.
When you combine the Privateer points results from our 7 races, with the Factory results this is the order you get.

Re: Wednesday Night Trans-Am Support Races
I am interested in racing in the Monday Night Series with the season 7 cars.
I have set up all the cars for testing.
Are the racers in the Monday Night Testing series required to be on a Team for the Saturday Season 7 Series?
I am not able to race every Saturday, but I could be a sub driver depending the date of the Sat. race.

No teams for the support race Tom. It's all about the cars and making them more available and more equal.

OK, thanks.
I'm going to start practicing with the cars then. I already have them built.

inviting new folks
It would make the racing much more fun for everyone if everyone (all of us) brought in just 1 new driver to the series. IF each of us were to bring in just 1 new driver we would double the grid and be entirely full! So, please, I beg you, bring in 1 new person even if only for the Monday night event.
To help, I'm going to offer a season bonus point to any Trans-Am team who can bring in a new person whether they race on Mondays or Saturdays. Bring in a new guy by Dec 14th and collect a free team bonus point!
Probably the best place to recruit new drivers is in the crash fest known as public lobbies. Go over there and watch for the guys who refuse to race dirty and that's the guy we want in our series! Invite him to try out the cars and to the IFCA. Some will, some won't, who cares, next, is the motto. It should only take a day or two for each team to get a new guy. Meaning, if you spectate the public lobby racing for an hour each day you should get more than 1 new driver.
Here is a list of teams who can and should collect the recruiting bonus point:

Tonights race!
Reminder: Tonight is our first IFCA Trans-Am support race! This is a first come first serve event that starts at 9:00 pm EST. First 25 drivers who show up are in, so come early! Seating is very limited!
Track is Road America, 20laps with 2 discretionary pit stops and 1 mandatory pit at the end of lap 13. Race will be about 45min long.

A very exciting race where everyone was trying very hard to catch the guy in front of them or evade the guy behind them! Very clean too as far as I know. I will review the replay just to make sure.
Since this isn't a series with series points, there are no penalties to issue or warnings equating to strikes as with the Relay Challenge on Saturdays. The most I can do is verbally warn people to try to keep it clean out there.
Congrats to all the new guys who have now earned a rating as you can see above. Looks like they will all move to a Factory level build the next race. Again this is the way it is supposed to be. We want the lower rated drivers to have the faster cars so they can mix it up with the faster drivers in the slower cars.
Were it not for my uncalled for communication ban, I could have had a few more drivers show up, as I was in the middle of reminding them when I was banned for doing so. Xbox has a new auto-filter program that hunts for signs of spammers. If you send the same exact message to more than 15 people from your PC saying something as innocuous as "the race is tonight at 9pm EST" like I did, the filter doesn't care that you sent it to interested people on your friend's list, it just thinks your spamming and it will auto-ban you. You can then go to the ban page and explain what happened, but then they will reply to you with a form letter telling you your ban is still justified. For this reason, it's best to check the club site for updates and information or here at the IFCA because I won't risk sending out messages to people on my friend's list anymore. Thanks Xbox epic fail.
Some trivia about the race, CRC Skitchin sat on the pole with a 2:14.650 in his Ferrari 360, and took fastest race lap with a 2:14.943 just 0.033sec faster than GTDon's BMW with a 2:14.976.
Next week is Lime Rock, and everyone has to pick a different car. The rule here is, you can not use the same car twice.

Re: Wednesday Night Trans-Am Support Races
I was in a Privateer 996. Based on these results, I should upgrade to a Factory 996 for the Saturday race (which I forgot to stick around and qualify for). And build a completely different Factory car for next Mondays Practice Race.
My hands hurt from fighting off Intimidator who was less than 2 seconds in front or behind me the ENTIRE race. Kudos to him for putting on a good clean and fair race. If you watch the replay, watch us.

You are correct. In fact all the new unrated guys are now in Factory builds.

Nothing too crazy ChevyPower took pole with his Privateer Ferrari 360 along with fastest lap and the win over Latte Speed in a Factory Ferrari and GTDon in a ZO6 Corvette. Way too many "sorrys" from Nova hitting everyone, you need to clean it up Nova.
VIR Full next Monday!

Not too many contacts but a lot of off-track moments. VIR is just that way. You tend to risk sliding off the track and it's always way off the track when you do.
As you can see by the ratings results everyone finished pretty close to where they were expected to finish according to the IFCA computer. This is interesting because people were not in their season cars for the most part. Just about everyone was in a different car than they will drive on Saturday, and yet everyone still finished in about the right order they should have according to the computer. So, if the cars are relatively equal, the faster drivers are going to win over the slower drivers no matter which cars are used is the point. Skitchin was in a Lotus Esprit taking the pole with a 1:55.555 and the win with a fastest race lap of 1:56.376.

Fun little fight with Latte Speed my Lotus vs his Porsche even though there were some strange ghosting problems. Congrats to ChevyPower for putting the Alfa 8C on pole 1:55.873, taking fastest lap 1:55.342, and the win. Well done.
*As it was suggested in order to have a bit more time to prepare between events we are moving the support race from Mondays to Wednesday nights starting next week at Road Atlanta.

Re: Wednesday Night Trans-Am Support Races
Please go to the Xbox Club site (IFCA TransAm Relay Challenge) on Xbox Live and state whether you are in or out for our Season 8, Feb 15th. We are attempting to figure out who are our active members and who are not for next season. We don't want to bother you or waste time on those who are not going to race with us in 2020. You have until Jan 31st to respond.
The only people we want or need in our Xbox Live Club are racers, not spectators. The Club is for competing participants only and is not a lounge.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

I would like to thank everyone for supporting our Support race and showing us how good the cars are, which is the purpose of our Support race. It's also a chance to get to know drivers and how they drive as well as introducing the style of driving we do with the format we use.
It was great to see everyone doing their level best to respect other drivers and give them room to race. I saw a lot of people do what we ask which is letting a clearly faster driver have an easy pass. No one needs to pull over into the grass, just a lifting of your throttle down a straight is enough.
Here at the Support race it's all about the car and what it can do and not so much the driver. Our job here is to get the most out of whatever car we drive so that when we revisit this classification of Trans-Am cars in the future we can BoP them better.
1st place, pole position , and fastest lap went to LSEM Quantum. 2nd place goes to LSEM Turbo, and perhaps surprisingly 3rd place went to SP33D RAC3R 28x. All were in the Mustang. I say surprisingly because SP33D hasn't raced in over a year and just got in the car prior to qualifying. Because he is a former multi-time IFCA Champion in many formats the IFCA Ratings Computer gave him more credit than I did and expected him to win the race with an estimated rating that was higher than anyone in the lobby, (2050.999). He only lost 16 ratings points for finishing below where the computer predicted he would. Not bad for not racing for nearly 2 years. Pray we don't see him on a regular basis. lol
Next Wed is the last round of Season 7 and the 2K cars at Daytona Night. After that, we will be transitioning to the Season 8 60s-70s Trans-Am Cars. We will use an intermission track not on the Season 8 schedule while between Seasons. Once the week of Season 8 begins we will be at Bathhurst.

Re: Wednesday Night Trans-Am Support Races
Just a quick note to everyone as we transition to the Season 8 cars. There will be precious little time to get a team qualified for the Feb 15th start at Bathurst which is also the qualy track. Next Wed will be Feb 5th already! We will be at Bathurst on Feb 5th and again on Feb 12th before the main race on Feb 15th. It is highly suggested that you make your qualy attempts on these Wednesdays before the actual race on the 15th. Qualy officially opens this Friday, Jan 31st!!!

As Elton John says, "the b i t c h is back." Multi-time IFCA Champion SP33D RAC3R 28x has returned to pick up about where he left off, winning. It's been nearly over a year since he last competed. This win wasn't quite as easy as the IFCA ratings computer would have you believe because ChevyPower and Skitchin are both very under rated at the moment. In fact ChevyPower wasn't far behind in second place the whole race. SP33D did take the pole with a 1:52.469 and fastest lap with a 1:52.366 for the win. ChevyPower stuck 2nd place and Skitichin managed 3rd.
Next week we make the switch to Season 8 and the 1960s-70s Trans-Am cars at Bathurst. Tell your friends. We would love to see more folks show up for our support races on Wed nights.
Go here to see the final car results for Season 7 and an explanation of our findings after 7 races:

Yes, we will be at Bathurst tonight, and again next Wed before our main team event on Feb 15th. It behooves you to take a shot at qualifying tonight as you know, you are allowed to use any car to do this.
For clarification, any and all bonuses are reserved for those who race in our Saturday main event. If for example you set the track lap record before the race, and don't show up to race, no bonus will be awarded and the official track lap record passes on to the next fastest driver who actually raced. Another example is, if you set a top 7 practice lap time and don't race, you will not get the 1/2 point bonus.
Also, to race in the single driver/no driver exchange-double points finale at Laguna Seca, you have to have raced in at least 3 out of the 7 races to be eligible.
Good luck!

Our first 60's-70's support race was light on grid numbers as expected. We started with 10 drivers and ended with 7. With so few drivers we voted to try a reverse grid just for the fun of it.
Typical of reverse grids, whichever fast driver can make a breakaway first will usually win and that's what happened. Though this is not the intent of a reverse grid it is what tends to happen and why we don't usually do them.
Car selections were wide and varied and the racing was a little bit on the bump and grind side another consequence of reverse grid order and reason we don't do them.
Pole was set by TREMEC in a Miura 2:17.017. Fastest lap went to GTDon in his trusty Cuda with a 2:17.261. And the win went to SP33D RAC3R in his Alfa TZ2.
Next Wed we will be at the same track prior to the opening round on Saturday (Bathurst) time to qualify!
