1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS
294hp/267tq/2288lbs A642
-- the one Porsche everyone wants to drive, if it will only cooperate. And now we finally have. The 911 is perhaps the winning-est car in automobile history despite its bad balancing act. Properly tuned the rear-engined flat-6 911 is hard to beat and fun to drive. It has good top speed, acceleration, and handling, but weak brakes. Dial the roll-bars in and suddenly the 911 is no longer an uncontrollable fool and becomes a reliable weapon. We had to help it out a little more due to the bounce in the stock suspension or it would have been wheelie-ing from corner to corner. This latest build has done a lot to settle the car down and give it the carfree driveability it deserves.

1970 Corvette ZR-1
442hp/454tq/3068lbs A643
--Although not the raging beast L88 427, and ZL1 all aluminum 427 of the year before, the small block ZR-1 was special. It was Chevrolet's answer to how to go road racing in 1970. The LT-1 350cid small block was spec-ed for lightweight durability and high revving power. Not as powerful as the optional LS7 454cid but not nearly as heavy either. This gave the C3 Vette the balance and agility it needed to eat Ferrari's and Porsches for lunch. Our test model bears this out with very good top speed, handling, and braking, at the expense of some acceleration.

1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302
359hp/359tq/2665lbs A630
--who doesn't want to see this Trans-Am champion run well? The key was to get the weight down which improved the acceleration, handling, and braking. It still has speed, but everything has shifted again towards greater driveability to get better lap times. The Boss has been hit or miss in the past but this time we think it is a hit for all our Blue Oval fans out there.

It has really good acceleration and brakes, not so good top speed as usual, and good handling once dialed in. At a smaller track few can keep up with it.

1969 Datsun 240Z/Nissan Fairlady Z 432
316hp/236tq/2222lbs A638
--With national SCCA titles back to back in 1970 and 1971 the Z established itself as a winner quickly. The in-line DOHC 6cyl offered more power and torque than a 4cyl without adding a lot of weight to the car. Our version is well balanced with great acceleration and braking, good handling, and good top speed this time. A very easy cool looking fun car to drive, as long as the roll bars are properly set.

1971 Plymouth Cuda
440hp/507tq/3194lbs A631
--like its real-life 1970 AAR Cuda counterpart our Season 3 Cuda was a bit of a disappointment. Underbuilt, and heavy, our Cuda was potentially better than its numbers indicated. With a total rebuild it has a better breathing engine and better handling. With a fresh 426 Hemi V8 installed, the Cuda is more like its old self and its real-life counterpart. It's fast with gobs of torque, and feels heavy, with small brakes. Not the best recipe for road racing but fun as hell.

Always a threat to be OP for unknown reasons we gave it less hp and with cutting its weight in just the right places, our Jav is on a more equal footing with its leading competitors. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO
300hp/216tq/2375lbs A638
--classically smooth, small, fairly fast, easy to drive, and great all-around car! The "250" in its name denotes the displacement in cubic centimeters of each of its cylinders; "GTO" stands for Gran Turismo Omologata,Italian for "Grand Touring Homologated." Just 36 of the 250 GTOs were manufactured between 1962 and 1964.When new, the 250 GTO cost $18,000 in the United States, with buyers personally approved by Enzo Ferrari himself. The current record for world's most expensive car was set in June 2018 when a 1963 250 GTO (chassis 4153GT) was sold in a private sale for $70 million. The 250 GTO was designed to compete in Group 3 GT racing, where its rivals would include the Shelby Cobra, Jaguar E-Type and Aston Martin DP214. The engine was the race-proven Tipo 168/62 Comp. 3.0 L (2,953 cc) V12 as used in the 250 Testa Rossa Le Mans winner. An all-alloy design utilizing a dry sump and six 38DCN Weber carburetors, it produced approximately 300 PS (296 bhp; 221 kW) at 7500 rpm and 294 N⋅m; 217 lbf⋅ft (30 kg⋅m) at 5500 rpm of torque. The gearbox was a new 5-speed unit with Porsche-type synchromesh. The 250 GTO's racing debut was at the 1962 12 Hours of Sebring, driven by American Phil Hill (the Formula One World Driving Champion at the time) and Belgian Olivier Gendebien. Although originally annoyed that they were driving a GT-class car instead of one of the full-race 250 Testa Rossas competing in the prototype class, the experienced pair impressed themselves (and everyone else) by finishing second overall behind the Testa Rossa of Bonnier and Scarfiotti. Ferrari would go on to win the over 2000cc class of the FIA's International Championship for GT Manufacturers in 1962, 1963, and 1964. The 250 GTO was one of the last front-engined cars to remain competitive at the top level of sports car racing.

Re: 60s-70s Trans-Am Car builds
Please be advised that we had to change the builds on 3 cars for greater equality. The Camaro and Corvette were upgraded, and the Ferrari was downgraded. This is the last change for Season 12 as it technically begins right after the end of the Season 11's finale today.
