A very good and a fairly clean race on the new Road Atlanta.  Battles happened up and down the grid the whole race as we began to see just how much of an impact the lighter cars can have.  Because of this we saw several driver's pace rise to that of the league leaders briefly.  Drivers like LilAnt1090 and Papa Creech172 were just as fast as anyone in this 3rd round.  Their tires were also not taking the same beating as the Pro drivers, allowing them an extra lap or so on softs too.

Per the Season 5 rules:


"At the start of the second half (Mugello) everyone will again begin in the Pro level extra heavy ballast builds.  In this way no one will be tempted to tank their skill level for the start of the second half of the season.  The final at Sebring will once again, as it always is, be worth double points."




As for penalties here at Road Atlanta, there were no negative penalties but there were some positive.  The contact between Jonathon and Crazy was ruled as a race incident, Crazy lost 8 places and was compensated +.25 x 8 = 2.0.  The contact between Eries and Loaf was also ruled a race incident where Eries lost 3 places, +.25 x 3 = .75.

This is a very rare condition in both cases.  While true, cars did go off track and drivers did not wait, (gambling that the ruling would not go against them I might add) the contact was neither malicious or avoidable or careless. In such rare cases where contact is made without fault, no negative penalties can be assessed, even for not waiting.  It's still not a good gamble to not wait since 99% of the time you will likely be penalized please understand.

The winner of the race was Jonathon in a Pro level Mustang with the fastest race lap of 1:33.473.  Lest anyone think the Charger was not competitive, it did actually sit on the pole position for this race with a 1:34.394 lap by GTDon in a Pro level build. Sadly with 2 laps to go there was an intermittent power outage at GTDon's house causing a disconnect for the 3rd F#^$#& race in a row! The Dodge boys have all had a rough time of it this season.

Jonathon managed to catch C1 Nemesis on the last lap demoting him to 2nd place in a thrilling finish! C1 kalshN54 rolled in some 30 seconds later for 3rd.

Season points orders have changed quite a bit but Jonathon continues to lead the championship over C1 kalshN54 and C1 CrAzY.  On the team side C1 Baguette E-Sport continues to have a slight lead over Team Penske II and  C1 Camembert E-Sport.

As is the case with American Football, when you are down at half time, it only means that you can come back and do the same thing they did to you in the 1st half, in the 2nd half.  So things are far from over, especially so with the double points round finale @ Sebring.

So, it would seem that the "Good Guys" car was the better car, this time.  The Steve McQueen Mustang proved to be more than a match for the "Bad Guys" Dodge Charger in the end.  It was close, just like in the movies.
