JFF Seasonal Break Races
Between Season 5 and 6, we will have a one week break before the next season starts. We are going to fill this Saturday with a Just For Fun, Non Rated event.
One car, but just about everyone will be getting assigned a PI that they are not to exceed
Car: 1998 Nissan Silvia k's aero
Build rules: You must run widest race tire front and rear. (don't worry, you'll still have plenty of PI)
Stock wheels will be used
You are not allowed to use the body kit that changes the standard nose of the car
All other parts, including Forza aero will be available to ALL drivers.
Each driver has been assigned a PI Rating
Track : Circuit of The Americas: West
2 sprint races: 12 laps each (Now extended to 16 laps each)
Starting grid will be determined by random lottery drawing

Alright drivers, Saturday's races will be extended to 16 laps each. You still are not required to make pit stops. We will still follow the same format as Wednesday with random starting grid (hopefully I'll have a faster way to set the grid lol).

Sorry Staffy, I thought you went wide right to create space, didnt realize you took that line. I blame Don.
I did at least let you regain position.
Guys regarding the races. If you bump someone and this makes them turn sideways, back off and let them regain position. I saw some hectic driving and zI was part of it as well. I try my utmost at the start to brake more to ensure all get through safely, only to be rear ended and left for dead. Also it really doesnt help to try and straighten someone, they are already taking measures to straighten up, all you do is wreck them further.

I generally agree.
But, more times than not if you cause a car to turn sideways in front of you, you can sometimes help the situation by preventing their car from turning all the way around. You can straighten them out with a bump and it isn't considered a disservice, it's considered a help.
In this case i didn't cause eries car to rotate sideways in front of me. And It left me with few choices. Stop and get rear-ended. Try to drive around by going off track and possibly crashing. Or give a helping hand and try to straighten his car out so we both can get going. It didn't work out this time perhaps because eries wasn't expecting it but it was an act of benevolence and not maliciousness. Sort of the least bad choice available.
It's happened to me many times. Someone gets into my door hard and my car starts to spin and if the other guys car is still close and he is a skilled driver he will block my car with his so it stops turning and straightens out faster than had i recovered it myself. It sucks, but i always give a symbolic wave of thanks for the concerned effort to make things right.

Be nice if you posted a points result. Also, as i applaud the effort and am in sympathy with any race organizers, others are asking if they can add to your ideas for the next interim race before season 7. Get with Dino and see what he is thinking.

Re: JFF Seasonal Break Races
Ok, so it took me longer than hoped to get these up for you guys. But here it is. But a few things first. 1, I want to thank Don for letting us put on this event. 2, Much of the crdeit goes to Staffy for helping plot and formulate how this was going to happen. 3rd, thanks to everyone who attended. Maybe another one will be in the works for the next break in the seasons so stay tuned.
Now for the races. After a bit of a botched start of race one things were certainly tight into turn 1 which we all knew would happen. Plenty of battling throughout the race, some bumps, nudges, maybe an unfortunate hit or spin, or two but in the end the race panned out nicely. Dino and Latte battled for laps on end contending for the lead with Dino taking home the win for race one. Latte in a very secure second and ZHP third. Dino needed to get past 5 other drivers to get to the front as did Latte starting just behind him. ZHP worked his way up from starting 15th. So this race was not a runaway by any means.
Race 2 saw the grid reversed from Race 1 with StuStu2k8 startign pole after an impressive charge through the field in Race 1 and a solid laptime posted he was gonna be tough. But ZHP started 2nd and go the inside line into turn 1 and never looked back. The rest of the field ran 4, almost 5 wide into turn 1 before some drivers backed out an made it 2 to 3 wide which was a little better, still bumpers were in contact. Latte and Dino worked their way up from their mid pack staing point with Chevy had his hands full with the lowest PI of the field. There was some aggressive moves, some that I wouldn't expect in a points series. Guys remember, you need to race the same competitors each week, don't go rubbing someone the wrong way, an untimely "incident could possibly be down the road. Drivers forgive pretty quickly but they don't forget. With that said the race eventually calmed down for some while others battled almost the whole race. ZHP ran out front but was still within earshot of Stu, and Sox for that matter. When the dust settled after the second race the finish was this:

Trans Am @ VIR Grand West
I'll be hosting this one. It will be two 10lap races. The top 3 will have to switch out their cars and start at the back for the second race. Just 6 Trans Am cars to pick from with a build that is very close to the real car counterparts. Let the best makes win!
The car builds unless otherwise noted are:
no downforce
full roll cage
widest race tires
no less than 2900lbs.
Cars | max hp | minimum weight | downforce | widest race tires | roll cage | |
1 | 1969 Chevrolet Camaro | 535hp | 2900lbs | no | yes | yes |

Not bad, pretty tough track, cars were okay, racing was fairly clean too. Congrats to ChevyPower for the overall win thanks to his pole position. Quantum took 2nd and GTDon took 3rd place. Ties were broken by IFCA rating. With some new restrictions and BoP we can and should be able to use this model for future races. Just have to settle the Javelin down and probably the Cougar too.

Trans Am development
Because of the gaps between rounds during Season 7 we will continue to develop these particular Trans-Am cars for equality. All of the cars will continue to be limited to 2900lbs without downforce, with widest race tires, and full roll cage, but will have adjusted hp numbers. Once the cars selected are balanced we can then migrate the event from a JFF to a rated series. Our next available slot will be Saturday, Aug 7th. I will post the adjusted hp this week.

New cars added
In case you didn't see it in the above post, I have added more cars and set their hp to a specific number for each car to better balance them. I also added some smaller cars that were used in Trans Am racing back in the day. These small cars do have downforce and their own minimum hp and weight numbers.
So, do whatever you like to these cars as long as they don't exceed their minimum weight and maximum hp figures, along with roll cage and widest race tires. (see chart below)
All the cars are much more balanced than when we were at VIR so that everyone can more easily pick their favorite car and not worry about being outgunned.
