IFCA Spec Kings 2023!
IFCA Spec Kings 2023!
As we wait for the arrival of "Forza Motorsports" sometime later this year, the IFCA will be debuting the "IFCA Spec Kings" format in the interim. After Season 18 ends in early April we will have a 2 week break before transitioning to a weekly Spec race format. These are weekly races with a different Spec car and track each Saturday @ 7pm EST. There will be no season points since each race is unrelated to the next.
We will reset the ratings after the last Season 18 race and apply the new ratings to the following Spec King races. Our 5 driver skill divisions will remain in place and we will add 1 more.
Spec racing means everyone is in the same car with the same parts. It doesn't mean you can not tune your car. The random cars chosen will be biased toward handling vs speed in their builds. Each new car (and track) will be randomly selected Friday nights so that you will have a full week to practice with it.
We will be retaining teams for Spec Kings too. Though there will be no individual championship season points, we will incorporate a new team points formula to allow teams to exercise their dominance in Spec Kings.
=====================================
Team livery requirements will be simplified to black hoods, ifca.forumotion.com URL on all 4 sides, and the name of the team on both sides of the car. ANY number plates will do, but, you do have to have a number plate. Non-team drivers can do whatever they like but may not use black hoods, and can use any racing number plate.
=====================================
Individual "IFCA Spec Kings" points will be the same formula as they are for a season event to include all the bonus points for practice lap, pole, fastest lap, track lap record, and clean driver bonus. Team points will be modified however.
Each team will be allowed a maximum of 4 drivers, (and minimum of 3) and only the top 3 drivers will be counted for team points in the race. To gain maximum team points every driver in a team must post a top 12 practice lap which nets 3pts for the team, and a bonus of 0.5pts for each team driver. Then, only the top 3 drivers will earn additional team points based on their finishing order. The team driver points schedule will be based on a 24pt scale. 1st place earns 24pts for their team, 2nd place earns 23pts, 3rd place earns 22pts and so on down to 24th place earning 1pt.

Beginning with "Spec Kings" we will be adding a sixth skill level for all of our alien friends. We realize that Platinum is almost but not quite equal enough for an alien level driver to have competitive fun. The problem with the uber fast in FM7 is not having enough competition. There just aren't that many aliens out there and when they do join a league they tend to be 1 of 1 in a class by themselves. This means once they gain the lead it's a lot of laps all by themselves which is pretty boring for them. Our new top skill level will be called "Palladium." The threshold for Palladium begins at a rating of 2009.000 and above.
The difference between Platinum and Palladium is Palladium has 1 less width front and rear street tire, and uses the heaviest wheels instead of lightest. This lowers the P.I. by about 7 P.I. vs a Platinum build. We think this is still good enough to allow the fastest Forza drivers in the world to win here at the IFCA. Our intent is to give the fastest drivers opportunity to race lower skilled drivers equally, but not to handicap them so much that it becomes impossible for them to win.
About a year ago many of the faster drivers protested that the Platinum level build was too difficult even for them to fairly compete with. Since that time it has been proven that this is not the case. In fact, we suspect that our system has actually improved the driving skills of many in the top skill levels to the point that Platinum is not regarded as being too much of a handicap anymore. With the addition of the Palladium skill level, parity will be reached between all of the skill levels. In particular, Platinum level drivers will be more on par with the alien level Palladium drivers
If we resume our seasonal contests, Palladium drivers will be reset to the bottom of Palladium. Such a high skill level is rare to encounter so we don't expect many aliens in the first place, but some of our Platinum level drivers are getting just as good. We hope this new skill level doesn't scare what few aliens there are away from the IFCA.
